NMHG SELECTS ENCOUNTER FOR GLOBAL DEALER TRAINING

Company Provides Weekly Web Conferences for Lift Truck Manufacturer

PORTLAND, OR (Nov. 4, 2003) – Encounter Collaborative, an innovator in web and audio conferencing solutions, today announced that NACCO Materials Handling Group, NMHG, a subsidiary of NACCO Industries, Inc. (NYSE:NC) has selected Encounter to provide audio and web conferencing services for its Aftermarket Training Department. The training team, which supports a global dealer network in both North and South America, provides four webcasts per month with attendees from eight to 60 sites participating in each webcast.

NACCO Industries, Inc. is an operating holding company with three principal businesses: lift trucks, housewares and lignite coal mining. The subsidiaries consist of NACCO Materials Handling Group, NACCO Housewares Group (Hamilton Beach and Proctor Silex products) and North American Coal Corporation. NACCO employs more than 12,000 people globally and reported revenues in 2002 of $2.5 billion.

NACCO Materials Handling Group designs, engineers, manufactures, sells, services and leases a full line of lift trucks and service parts marketed worldwide under the Hyster“ and Yale“ brand names,as well as under the Yale“ and Sumitomo Yale“ brands in Japan.

In addition to supporting eight global training centers, NMHG’s Aftermarket Training department provides classroom training, online offerings and online certification programs for its dealers. It supplements the dealer training with web conferences, archived for those who cannot attend. Kim Lynch, Aftermarket Training Developer, selected Encounter Collaborative to handle NMHG’s web conferencing needs. “We based our decision on five major criteria: Encounter’s call management capabilities, its Audio Control Panel, broadcast quality audio, ability to archive our presentations and exemplary customer support. We are also pleased to receive detailed reports that allow us to appropriately cross-charge dealers for their training.”

Lynch and the other trainers are impressed with how straightforward and simple it is to use the Encounter conferencing services. The web-based training is well received by dealers who now have an alternative to the time, cost and lost opportunity associated with travel. “If Encounter provided a good rate but had poor customer service, we would not remain a customer. Fortunately they provide competitively-priced, well supported and easy to use conferencing services that help our dealers and staff achieve their goals,” Lynch observed.

“For more than 90 years, the NACCO organization has focused on customers, operational improvements and growth,” stated Bruce Frydenlund, President and CEO of Encounter. “Like NACCO and NMHG, Encounter is customer-focused so we are pleased to provide web conferencing services that assist NMHG in their web-based training,” he concluded.
